Module 4 Overview

In the previous modules, we used a type 2 hypervisor which resides on an existing operating system. In the next modules, we will look at the hypervisor that runs directly on the system hardware.

Course Objectives

This module contributes to the following course objectives:

  1. Identify important aspects of virtual systems, their architecture and discuss how they are used within larger, networked computing systems
  2. Distinguish the unique characteristics, constraints, and opportunities of implementing virtual platforms into information technology systems

Module Objectives

Upon the completion of this module, you will be able to:

  1. Explain the difference between Type 1 and Type 2 hypervisors
  2. Explain the role of the ESXi
  3. Describe planning considerations for vCenter Server
